Jefferson County's Oldest
Fern Creek Traditional High School
A Photo Essay

The gymnasium we knew, shown here just after it's completion in 1941, has been replaced by a large multi-purpose gym with collapsible bleachers.  The new gym was recently dedicated to Coach Kenneth Arnold.
Be patient and maybe you'll soon see tiny Helen Collings emerge from her classroom, left; or, talk a little too loud and you'll be hushed by Librarian Margaret Ripley.  During our time at Fern Creek, the lockers still had their original finish.
The cafeteria hasn't changed much, except there seems to be a lot more orange these days.  On the right, Ross Simpson poses at the announcer's board inside the school's on-the-air radio station, WFHS 92.7 FM.  Ross arranged for  donation of equipment for the station.
